2017 BET Awards Nominees List

We are one month away from the 2017 BET Awards and the list of nominees is outstanding! It’s somewhat predicable, but also a bit bewildering– for example, Cardi B being up for Best Female Hip-Hop artist, alongside Missy Elliot, Nicki Minaj and Remy Ma? Some raised eyebrows, but a round of applause for the Love & Hip-Hop star nonetheless. To the surprise of no one, Beyonce is in the lead with seven nominees, including her nomination for Album of the Year with Lemonade. Queen B is also up for Video of the Year with “Sorry,” as well as nominated twice for Best Collaboration for her work on DJ Khaled’s “Shining” and “Freedom” featuring Kendrick Lamar (which they performed at the 2016 BET Awards).

Bruno Mars is in second place with five nominations. Mars is up for Best Male Pop/R&B artist, while “24K Magic” is up for Video of the Year! Solange battles against her big sis with a nomination in Best Female R&B/Pop Artist and “Cranes in the Sky” for Video of the Year. Going down the list is Chance the Rapper with four nominations, includeing Best Collaboration for “No Problem” with Lil’ Wayne and 2 Chainz, Best Male Hip-Hop Artist, Best New Artist, and Album of the Year for “Coloring Book.” Man, that was a mouth-full and so worth the lack of breath.

Migos is also lighting up the scoreboard with their smash hit, “Bad and Boujee,” being up for Video of the Year, Best Collaboration, and Coca-Cola Viewer’s Choice Award; the trio is also up for Best Group.

Congrats to all the nominees this year. Catch the 2017 BET Awards June 25th at 8pm E.T.
